SUV robbed by six goons, one poses as policeman

Victim waylaid at gunpoint, dumped with head injury

Six persons, including one in police uniform, allegedly assaulted the driver of a Toyota Fortuner before dumping him near AIIMS and decamping with his SUV.

The victim was waylaid in west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden around 4.30 am on Friday while he was headed to Patiala to deliver some goods.

He was admitted to the AIIMS trauma centre for head injuries, but was discharged after treatment.

Victim Ravi, 35, has told police that he even heard the robbers talking about killing him.

But they changed their mind and instead decided to dump him outside.
While the robbers allegedly carried three pistols, he was not shot at. They assaulted him using the pistol butts and punched him.

Police at Rajouri Garden have registered a case of kidnapping, dacoity and impersonation. No arrest was made till late Friday evening.

Ravi is a driver of a Gurgaon-based businessman who is currently abroad.
A police officer said Ravi was intercepted by a man in police uniform flagging him down with traffic police light bars. Believing him to be a policeman, Ravi stopped the SUV.

The man approached him and asked him to show the vehicle documents. Just as he opened the car door, the man pulled out the vehicle keys.

Immediately, five men emerged from a Honda City car parked nearby and pushed Ravi to the back seat of the Fortuner.

Two men sat in the front while two others sandwitched Ravi. The remaining two robbers followed in the Honda City car, a police officer told Deccan Herald.

They allegedly drove the two vehicles towards AIIMS via Dhaula Kuan.
They dumped him near the hospital around 5 am before driving towards Ashram Chowk.

Ravi soon noticed a police control room vehicle patrolling the area and he called out for help.

He was admitted to the AIIMS trauma centre and his statement taken down.
