A 42-year-old banquet hall manager was killed by his business partner over a monetary dispute last week. The victim’s body was found in south-west Delhi’s Dwarka last Friday, police said on Tuesday.

Police have arrested 34-year-old Anil Puri, son of a retired Indian Air Force warrant officer, over the death of Rajesh Saini, a resident of Raj Nagar in Palam.

“Anil had shot dead Rajesh over a dispute in share of the profit and loss in their business and dumped the body near a drain in Dwarka sector 8. Anil is also an accomplice of criminal Pradeep Dogra,” said Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

An investigation revealed that Anil had planned a foolproof conspiracy to eliminate Rajesh.

Anil had organised a family trip to his sister’s house in Nagpur.
On December 17, he along with his family boarded Kerala Express from New Delhi railway station for Nagpur.

“However, Anil got down from the train while it was leaving New Delhi railway station. He had planned to reach Nagpur by air after killing Rajesh,” Yadav added.

On December 18, Anil went to Palam to meet his friends Shahid Ali and Sonu Peter, who are local criminals.

They went to Anil and Rajesh’s office in Kakrola Mod and took Rajesh in their car.
“Anil fired two shots at Rajesh and dumped the body. They left the car along with the firearms in Faridabad sector 3,” Yadav said.

Rajesh’s father told police that he had left for office on December 18 and did not return home.

A missing person report was lodged with Dwarka South police station. On December 19, Rajesh’s body was found with gunshot wounds in the chest. Accordingly, a case was registered with Dwarka South police station.

“It was suspected that his business partner Anil may be behind the attack as he was absconding,” Yadav added.

On Sunday, Anil was arrested when he went to Dwarka sector 20.
On interrogation, he confessed his involvement in the crime.

Anil has a catering business and had approached Rajesh about 10 months ago to offer him partnership in the business.

Rajesh had agreed, but a dispute arose between them regarding the share of profit and loss in the business.

“Rajesh was not returning Anil’s money despite repeated requests,” Yadav added.
Anil, Shahid and Sonu are accomplices of Pradeep Dogra, who is in Tihar Jail. Efforts are being made to arrest Shahid and Sonu.
