Stalker kidnaps four-yr-old to make mother marry him

Last Updated 27 December 2014, 02:26 IST

A 27-year-old man allegedly kidnapped a four-year-old girl to force her mother to marry him. Police safely rescued the girl and arrested the kidnapper in central Delhi’s Connaught Place on Thursday morning.

Jitender, a resident of central Delhi’s Ranjit Nagar, had threatened the woman that he would harm the child if she did not marry him.

Police acted on the complaint of 26-year-old Pinki, who stays with her family in Faridabad. She has two children and has filed for divorce. Pinki used to earlier live at a rented house in Ranjit Nagar, where Jitender was her neighbour.

“Jitender had fallen in love with Pinki. It is alleged that Jitender knew about Pinki’s marital status and wanted to marry her, but Pinki spurned his advances,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Parmaditya.

In a fit of rage, Jitender kidnapped Pinki’s daughter on Wednesday. The girl was sent to a playschool on Wednesday, but did not return home as usual. Pinki contacted the school authorities and conducted a search in the area, but failed to find her.

“After a couple of hours, Jitender made a phone call to Pinki claiming that he had kidnapped her daughter. He threatened to kill the girl if Pinki refused to marry him,” Parmaditya added.

Pinki immediately went to Jitender’s house at Ranjit Nagar, but did not find him and her daughter there. She then approached Ranjit Nagar police station.

Her statement was recorded and a case under sections 364 (kidnapping in order to murder) and 365 (kidnapping with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) of the Indian Penal Code was registered.

A police team along with Pinki then decided to set a trap for Jitender. “We told the woman to call Jitender and inform him that she will marry him,” another police officer said. Jitender was called to Connaught Place on Thursday morning. He was arrested when he reached there with the child.

After an initial probe, police said that Jitender has criminal history. He was earlier arrested for involvement in petty crimes.

Police said they have also booked Jitender under section 354-D of the IPC (contacting a woman to foster personal interaction repeatedly despite a clear indication of disinterest by such woman) .

Pinki was married seven years ago and has two daughters – one is four years old and the elder one is six years old.
