City police has requested citizens not to pay heed to rumour mongers in the wake of threatening tweets from a twitter account, claiming responsibility for the Bengaluru blast and warning more, that is now 'suspended'.

"BCP (Bengaluru city police) is aware about the tweets of LatestAbdul. They are being examined. There is no reason to be alarmed. Please do not pay heed to rumours," CCB (City Crime Branch) said in a tweet.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner M N Reddi said such tweets should not be given importance and action would be taken against anyone who gives such open threats. "We should not panic or spread fears about such tweets."

He said police would look into the tweet that claimed responsibility for the blast outside a restaurant here that killed one woman and injured three others.

Bangalore "is peaceful", said Additional Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar, who is also heading the Special Investigation Team probing the blast.

Kumar tweeted "Situation in Bangalore City is peaceful. Some elements spreading rumours. Dont pay heed to rumours, in case of anything suspicious call 100."

DCP Crime (Bengaluru) Abishek Goyal also tweeted "Please doNOT believe BASELESS rumours of more blasts. Situation is under control. Multiple agencies r coordinating efforts & helping BCP."
