Dancing to Bollywood hits

The ‘Alive India in Concert,’ which presented versatile playback singer Javed Ali, was a memorable evening for the audiences.

Held at Phoenix MarketCity recently, the concert had an excited crowd that welcomed the star of the evening with a standing ovation and cheers for him filled the air.

Families and youngsters, who came in large numbers, tapped, swayed and sang along with the Bollywood singer, who won the listeners’ hearts and made the evening a memorable one.

Greeting everyone in Hindi, he set the mood for celebration by singing the first song ‘Jashn-E-Bahara’ from ‘Jodha Akbar’. His voice wove magic into the ears of the listeners and had them humming along and left them on a musical high.

“I want him to sing all my favourite songs including ‘Deewana Kar Raha Hai’ and ‘Ek Din Teri Rahon Mein’,” said Ananya, a visitor from Hyderabad. The singer surely lived up to the audiences’ expectations as he sang most of his hits including ‘Tum Mile’, ‘Guzaarish’ and ‘Khwaja Mere Khwaja’. He captivated the audience with his beautiful voice and left them enchanted with his music. “I did not know much about Javed Ali. But now I am thankful to have come here. I realised that I like all his songs. I had a good time,” said Ekta Bazaz, a homemaker.

 “I liked Javed Ali from the time he was a judge on ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’. I am a huge fan of his songs and always listen to them on the radio. He is a great performer too,” said Kiran, a teacher from Delhi Public School, North.

The venue was filled with music-lovers. Kids, accompanied by their parents, were seen dancing to the Bollywood melodies. The youngsters also had a good time at the concert. “It is an evening well spent. I like how Javed Ali puts an Indian touch to all his songs. It was surely worth spending an evening here,” said Akhil, an employee of Amazon.

Said the singer, who sang a mix of Bollywood and sufi songs, “I came to have a good time here with my husband and I really had a great evening. His voice is mesmerising,” said Anjali, a professional.
