Seeking the return of a loaned amount proved costly for a 50-year-old man in east Delhi’s Gokulpuri as four persons allegedly beat him to death on Tuesday night.

The victim’s 18-year-old son who had accompanied him too received a few blows, but he managed to escape from the spot and inform police.

The suspects had fled by the time police arrived, but three of them were nabbed on Wednesday morning.

No external injury
There was, however, no serious external injury on the man’s body and police suspect he died either of heart attack or an internal injury.

The autopsy report is awaited before the actual cause is ascertained, said police.
Hakim Ali lived with his family in Mustafabad area.

A tailor by profession, Ali had lent Rs 10,000 to Mohammad Alam a few months ago. He and his 18-year-old son Faizan reached Gokulpuri around 9.30 pm on Tuesday to seek the return of the money.

Didn’t want to repay
“Alam did not want to return the entire amount loaned to him. He believed that the victim had delayed lending the money to him which had caused him some loss. He wanted to retain the amount he lost due to the delay,” a police officer told Deccan Herald.

This led to an argument between Ali and Alam which soon turned into a scuffle.
Ali’s son Faizan and Alam’s minor relative joined their fathers in the fight.

Alam allegedly also called his friends Naushad and Mehraaz who also assaulted Ali and Faizan.

“They rained blows and kicks on the father and son. Faizan escaped the assault to seek help, and called police. The suspects had fled by the time a police team arrived,” said the officer.

The victim was found lying unconscious and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Faizan identified the accused and a murder case was filed based on his statement.
Alam, Naushad and Mehraaz were arrested in separate raids on Wednesday morning. The juvenile is still absconding, said police.
