'Make in India' campaign a hit on social media

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign is a big hit in social media as it adds a new member every three seconds on its Facebook page and has become the most sought after government initiative ever on any digital media platform.

A statement released by the government said that ‘Make in India’ has seen an overwhelming response on its digital platforms like Facebook and Twitter since its launch just 3 months ago.

“The initiative has already touched over 2.1 billion global impressions on social media and reached an overall fan base of over 3 million on its Facebook page,” an official statement said.

The Make in India Facebook page adds a new member every 3 seconds, a feat that has not been achieved by any other department of the government and a very few in the private sector, the statement added.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) led ‘Make in India’ initiative has become the largest and fastest growing government initiative ever on digital media, leaving behind every other government departments like the Ministry of External Affairs, the Home Ministry or the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, the statement added.
On Twitter @makeinindia_ handle, the official account, has as many as 2.63 lakh followers already within 90 days.

The initiative has been abuzz since the very first day, with its launch video garnering over 5.7 lakh views on YouTube.

Not just the social networks, even the website (www.makeinindia.com) has received immense response with page views of over 5.5 million accessed by over 1.7 million users across the world.

The initiative focuses on attracting businesses to invest and manufacture in India with an aim to make India a global manufacturing hub while bringing about an economic transformation in the country.
