School rioting: 20 men sent to judicial custody

At least  20 people, who were arrested in connection with Wednesday’s rioting at Hosaguddadahalli following allegations of a sports teacher molesting a seven-year-old student at a local school, have been sent to 14 days’ judicial custody.

A senior police officer said, “Till now, 20 people have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. More arrests are likely soon, as we are still examining the photographs and the video footage. We are told that most of the suspects are from the neighbouring JJ Nagar and Goripalya.”

The officer said the sports teacher, who was savagely attacked by a mob, was recovering at a hospital.

“Once he is in a position to talk, we  will question him and the victim of the alleged molestation,” he added.

Chamarajpet MLA B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan on Friday approached City Police Commissioner M N Reddi and requested him not to arrest “innocent” people in the rioting case.
