Arjun Kapoor may have been at his romantic best in ‘Two States’ and ‘Finding Fanny’. In the recently-released ‘Tevar’, he plays the character of a kabaddi player and has undergone a complete makeover for the same.

Remake of the Telugu movie ‘Okkadu’, which was later made in Tamil as ‘Ghilli,’ the film has been shot in real locations such as crowded gullies and market places and Arjun sports a stubble throughout. “The shoddy, rough and unkempt look suits the character. I’ve also had to work on the accent and body language a lot,” he says. He adds, “My role is that of a boy from a small town who works with his head and not heart.”

The young star points out that although the film is a remake, a lot has been tweaked to suit the local psyche. “It may have similarities with the movies that have already been made but there is something new in this film,” says Arjun.

The role has indeed been a new experience for Arjun. “I did watch the original to get an idea of the basic structure. We’ve added a lot of entertaining elements. Each character has been conceptualised in a different way,” he says.

It is said that Arjun was keen to have Sonakshi Sinha cast opposite him. “We’ve known each other since childhood. Sonakshi is a thorough professional and never lost her cool on the sets, no matter how tough the scenes were,” he states.

Arjun prefers to take on one project at a time. “I am glad I am getting to play such contrasting characters. Every new project helps discover the actor within. I don’t want to settle for everything that comes my way,” he adds.

No doubt his father Boney Kapoor has been a great influence on him. Arjun confesses that he learnt the most of what he knows now about films from his father. “Being from a family of filmmakers is an added advantage but the hard work remains the same. You have to start from scratch and can’t afford to rest on the lineage factor,” he signs off.
