10 held for staking money on snooker

The City Crime Branch (CCB) police recently raided a snooker club at Rajivnagar in the city and arrested 10 persons for staking money for the game. Stake amount of Rs 43,700, cellphones were seized.

Acting on a tip off, the police team led by Inspector P A Sooraj, raided Cue Masters snooker club behind Sooryanarayana Swamy temple, second stage, Rajivnagar.

The arrested are: Abdul Mallik, aged 41 years, resident of Bannimantap; Hameed, 21, Shantinagar; Rizwan Khan, 21, Rajivnagar; Wasim Khan, 28 years, Lashkar Mohalla; Wasim Mohiddin, 25, Rajivnagar; Syed Mubarak, 24, Shantinagar;

Irfan Khan, 25, Udaygiri; Iqbal Khan, 30; Mohammed Riyaz, Ghousianagar; and Roshan, 27 years, Lashkar Mohalla. The case has been referred to Udaygiri police for further investigation.

Two held
Metagalli police have arrested two accused involved in a robbery at Metagalli police limits last December.

The accused identified as Abhilash alias Abhi, aged 23 years and Kiran alias ‘Kothi’, both from Kumbarkoppal had allegedly robbed Somashekar and Srinivasachari near the ring road on the day.

The duo was returning home from work, when the accused robbed them of Rs 4,500 and cellphones. A case has been registered.
