The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday questioned Rishipal, a Delhi-based RSS leader, in the rape case involving Raghaveshwara Bharathi, the head of Ramachandrapura Mutt, and artiste Premalatha.
Rishipal was quizzed about the relationship that existed between the seer and the artiste. The CID police had served a notice on Rishipal as Premalatha had mentioned him as one of the eyewitnesses. She had claimed that Rishipal had attended all her performances in Haridwar and some other cities in North India where Ramakatha event was organised.
The police recorded his statement while Premalatha too was present. The Ramachandrapura Mutt was rocked by a controversy after Premalatha lodged a complaint against the seer accusing him of raping her over the last four years. Later, the case was handed over to the CID.
