District cops seize loads of illegal sand

Cracking down on illegal sand mining, a police team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Nanjangud sub-division, Nikam Prakash Amruth on Friday raided several villages and seized loads of sand.


According to SP Abhinav Khare, as many as 36 baskets of sand were seized including 11 in Moodahalli, two in Kallahalli and highest of 23 in Gargeshwari. Besides, 10 loads of sand stocked at Moodahalli was also seized.


To check unabated illegal sand transport, trenches have been dug between the places of illegal mining and the roads connecting to the main road, along with the policemen deployed at the vital locations.
