Authorities take possession of two illegally built apartments

In a major blow to more than 250 investors, the Bengaluru Urban district administration on Saturday took possession of two separate apartment complexes built illegally at Haralukunte village in Begur Hobli of Bengaluru south taluk and Yamare village in Anekal taluk.

The biggest operation was at Haralukunte village where an apartment complex comprising about 100 flats with grand amenities like club house, park, playground, gym and a swimming pool had come up on five acres and 28 guntas of land on survey number 51, which is primarily a lake land.

Sources in the district administration told Deccan Herald: “There was no name mentioned in the building. When we enquired with some people residing there, they could not provide us any information. Even the manager and the security guard had no information about the developer. We have decided to take possession of the building.” A similar action was initiated at Yamare village where the district authorities took keys of 142 flats in an apartment into their custody. This was done a week after demarcating the boundary of the encroached government land.

An official said: “The land where a developer has built residential complex in Yamare village is a B-kharab land, which is a government property meant to be reserved as it is. Village records show that it was a small pond and was meant to be reserved as it is. But the builder constructed 142 flats on that land. We had demarcated the portion last week and now we took keys of all the flats into our custody.” It is learnt that the builder has sold all the flats to individuals whose investment is in danger.

In Bengaluru south taluk, a land grabber using his clout as a politician had developed a layout on 19 acres of pasture land in Survey No 56 of Hommadevanahalli village. Earlier, when the district officials went to take possession of the land, the politician had created a lot of problems. This time, the Additional Director General of Police of Bengaluru Urban District, T Sunil Kumar along with Superintendent of Police D Devaraj went to the spot and made sure that the politician was away from the place.
