A day after filing of nominations by Assembly poll candidates, the Congress stepped up its campaign on Thursday and experimented with new technology by pressing into service 45 vans equipped with LED screens.

After flagging off the vans, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee head Arvinder Singh Lovely said: “These vans will show a three-minute video featuring its leaders in all the 70 constituencies highlighting the work done by the Congress during its 15-year rule in the capital.”

“The vans with images of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi will carry the messages: ‘Toot gayi vikas ki dor, chalo chale Congress ki Aur’, ‘Bharosa hai naam ka, Congress ke kaam ka’, said Arvinder Singh.

According to the DPCC chief, one of the video will feature former chief minister Sheila Dikshit, the face of the party till December 2013.

It will highlight the project executed under her chief ministership in the last 15 years, including the Delhi Metro, the swanky domestic airport, flyovers and other development work.

Another video will also focus on the U-turns by the 49-day the Aam Aadmi Party government.

Lovely said the Congress was confident of its victory and has launched campaign on almost all the platforms.

The party will expose the tall claims made by the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party, he said.

Ajay Maken, who is heading the Congress’ campaign committee in Delhi Assembly elections, told reporters, “The Congress will go door to door to approach all the corners of Delhi. The van is loaded with hi-definition LED that will display the development work done by the party.”

“The party has roped in its student wing to accompany the campaign vans,” said a party worker.

The idea is similar to the BJP raths which are already doing the rounds of the city carrying the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the saffron party’s campaign.
