Mahabaleshwar Bhat elected president of Kannada literary festival

N Mahabaleshwar Bhat has been elected as president of the 10th district Kannada literary meet to be held in Chembu village near Sampaje on February 14 and 15.

Addressing mediapersons here recently, Kannada Sahitya Parishat Kodagu district unit president T P Ramesh said that Bhat had been elected unanimously at the Parishat office-bearers meeting held recently.

Neerjaje Mahabaleshwar Bhat hails from Biligeri village in Madikeri taluk and has retired as the principal of a PU college. He has written two travelogues, an edited work on Thantra Shastra, Avatara (autobiography) and other works. He was the president of Madikeri taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana held in Moornadu in 2006.

T P Ramesh said that litterateur Bacharaniyanda Appanna from the district would be felicitated during the 81th All India Kannada literary convention to be held at Shravanabelagola on January 31. Litterateurs B A Shamshuddin and Manajur Shivkumar from the distirct will take part in the event.
