Members tread charges at CMC meet

CMC members, on Monday, levelled allegations against each other in connection with the illegal construction of houses and stalls on CMC land, at CMC monthly meeting. 

Raising the issue, BJP members P D Ponnappa, K S Prakash, T S Ramesh and Unnikrishna said a shed has been constructed illegally behind PWD quarters. Reacting to the CMC Commissioner B B Pushpavathi said “following the allegations on construction of illegal shed, the officials had visited the spot for verification. 

Congress member Nandakumar’s wife Shashikala has been paying the tax for the land.” Member Nandakumar said that the issue is in the High Court. Hence it should not be discussed in the meeting. 

When the BJP members demanded the CMC to clear the unauthorised shed, Nandakumar said that all the unauthorised buildings in the CMC limits should be cleared. 

Supporting him, SDPI member Mansoor said that a building constructed in front of private bus shelter should be cleared. The BJP members demanded eviction of unauthorised petty shops, and said that the CMC should conduct a survey on the property. CMC President Julekabi said that all the buildings constructed on encroached land will be cleared.

Pvt bus shelter

On the construction of private bus shelter, a delegation of CMC members will meet District-in-Charge Minister and MLAs in Bengaluru. 

BJP member Ramesh said that the mode of construction should be decided at the earliest. Rs 20 lakh earmarked for the work should be used for the purpose.
