Rs 5 cr proposal for road works in Chintamani

Speaking to reporters after launching the work on development of M G Road, the MLA said that the proposal, submitted with the recommendation of the State government seeks funds for laying road from Chelur circle to Kolar road cross, construction of drainage, footpath and erection of road medians.

The proposal seeking funds from Central Road Fund should conform to the guidelines. The money is released only upon the recommendation of the state government. The Union government extends the assistance from out of the road tax collected in the State. “While the proposal is submitted to the Union government through the some are claiming the credit for themselves. The elaborate proposal has been submitted with the help of Minister for Public Works, Udasi. Pressure has also been brought on Union Minister for Roads, Kamalanath and the funds will be released soon,” he hoped.
The work on M G Road has been taken up at a cost of Rs 2 crore released under Union Road Fund.

Dr Sudhakar said that the road from Bagepalli cross to Chelur cross and up to Railway track would be developed as a model with drainage, foothpath and median. He sought the cooperation of the shop owners on the road by clearing the encroachment.

City Municipal Council president Venkataravanaswamy, Taluk Panchayat president Manjunath, former president Lakshminarayana Reddy, councillors and officials of Public Works Department were present on the occasion.
