After back-to-back sales by SpiceJet, rival IndiGo on Thursday joined the airfare war offering discounts on select sectors with tickets as low as Rs 1,499.

The airline is offering a Delhi-Jaipur ticket at Rs 1,499, while a Delhi-Mumbai ticket on discount sale is available at Rs 2,999, according to IndiGo’s website.

The discounted tickets are available only on select routes. SpiceJet had on Wednesday announced a three-day sale for travel between February 14 and April 15 at fares as low as Rs 1,599. It had last month come out with another Super Sale.

IndiGo also announced the launch of six new flights on its domestic network. It will operate its fifth daily non-stop flight between Mumbai and Goa and fourth daily non-stop flight between Kolkata and Guwahati.

Further, a statement said, the airline will operate its second daily non-stop flight between Mumbai and Guwahati. Additionally, the airline will also connect Guwahati with Goa via Mumbai.

With 578 flights connecting 37 destinations across the globe, these new flights commencing on February 7, will further consolidate IndiGo’s position as the fastest growing airline in India, thus resonating the airline’s expansion plan, it said.

IndiGo President Aditya Ghosh said, “The increased flow of tourist and business traffic to and from these eight cities gave us the perfect opportunity to serve and allow passengers to experience the hassle-free and on-time performance that IndiGo is synonymous with. We are confident that these additional flights will prove immensely convenient for our passengers.”
