<p>An eight-year-old girl was found raped and smothered at a desolate place near the Pillagumpe Industrial Area off Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural district on Thursday, police said. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The girl, a class 2 student, returned from school around 4.30 pm and went to play outside her home near Sulibele. Her parents, hailing from Hubballi, work in a brick kiln. They returned home around 6 pm but didn’t find her. <br /><br />They went looking for and found her lying semi-nude at a desolate place near the industrial area. They called neighbours for help and took her to a hospital where doctors declared her dead. Police suspect she was raped. They questioned the neighbours and it emerged the girl was last seen talking to one of them.<br /><br />Businessman ends life<br /><br />A businessman hanged himself at his home in Subramanyanagar on Wednesday. Police said they didn’t find any death note.<br /><br />Anil Kumar, 45, who ran a food production unit, is survived by mother, wife and a son who is studying in Mysuru. He had returned home from Nelamangala in the morning. He asked his chauffer to wait outside and went into the house. <br /><br />He saw his wife leaving for work. He told his mother that a relative, who lives nearby, wanted to see her. When everyone left home, he went into his bedroom and hanged himself.</p>
