CM not cooperating with probe in denotification case, says Shettar

Last Updated 07 February 2015, 20:58 IST

The government has not yet submitted any document to the Justice Kempanna Commission which is inquiring into the Arkavathi Layout denotification case, even six months after its formation, Jagadish Shettar, leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, has said.

“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is not cooperating with the probe,” Shettar told reporters here on Saturday. The BJP leader said that the government was in a hurry to renew the permits of some mining companies.

“The Union government is thinking about bringing an ordinance on the mining policy. But the State government extended the permits of some mining companies for 20 more years, in November and December. The Congress government is taking decisions which would help mining company owners,” Shettar said.

State BJP president Pralhad Joshi said that the Congress was making money in sand supply also.

Sand is not available for construction works. In every taluk, Congress leaders have been given the responsibility of supplying sand and sand-laden lorries move forward only if ‘something’ is given, he said.

The government was suppressing the feelings of Hindus by preventing the entry of VHP leader Praveen Togadia into Bengaluru, Joshi said.
