KPCC observers to review reason behind BHP formation

KPCC  President  G Parameshwara, on Monday, said KPCC will send observers  to Dakshina Kannada District, to review the reason behind Congressman Hemanath Shetty floating  Bharatiya Hindu Parishat (BHP).


Briefing reporters, he said the observers will comprise of senior party leaders and will collect circumstances and reason for the formation of a religious outfit by the leader.
“The Congress does not allow an individual to float any outfit within the organisation. The Congress always believed in inclusive politics that takes all sections of the society along. Individual attempt by a Congressman to start an outfit will not get the party’s approval. The executive committee of the KPCC will decided on the future course of action against Hemanath once the observers submit the report,” he said.

“If the Congress worker takes part in the programme of another political parties outfit, we will not spare him. We will not allow the party workers to have communal leanings while remaining in the Congress,” the KPCC Chief clarified.On appointing Fazal Rehman as Congress Block President of Puttur, he said that Hemanath Shetty has served as the President of Puttur taluk Block for eight years.

Stating that 60 per cent of the membership drive has been completed in Karnataka, he said that the last date for enrolling is February 28. A data bank of the members in all the 66,000 booths in Karnataka will be created by the KPCC. “Instead of keeping the registration books at the KPCC office, we have decided to create a data bank. Accordingly, pen drive has been provided to all the districts. The data bank will help in organising the party during the election,” he said.

He said that the  process of internal organisational election have been taken up as a pilot project in Karnataka, Kerala and Orissa, he said that the organisational elections would be held from the booth to block level committees. In the recently held meeting in New Delhi, AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi has collected views on ideologies of the Congress, need for a clear vision on socialism, inclusive democracy, secularism and socio economic upliftment.

To a query on selection of candidates to head various government-owned boards and corporations, he said that the appointments will be finalised after the on going session. “We have collected the names from all the MLAs. The  The decision on me entering the cabinet is left to the authority of the high command. As a KPCC Chief, I have discharged my duties effectively,” he said.

On bus fare

The KPCC Chief said that he will urge Transport Minister and Chief Minister to readjust the bus fare in proportionate to the reduction in price of fuel. “Projection of the next financial year, receipt and expenditure needs to be taken care while revising the bus fare,”  he added.
