A pet dog trapped in a room sealed by government authorities in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district was released after six months, ending prolonged agony for the animal and its owner

.

The pet, reduced to mere skin and bone due to lack of adequate food, was seen running out of the room when authorities broke the seal.

Reports said the district authorities raided a clinic in Khair in August following reports that the doctor running the clinic was using expired drugs. They later sealed the facility.

Two days after the place was sealed, the owner of the facility realised that his pet dog was trapped inside the room and alerted the authorities about it with the request to open the doors and release the trapped animal.

However, the authorities ignored his requests, reports said.

The owner continued to pass on some food to the animal through a hole in the window, even as he continued his effort to release the pet without success.

The animal was barking during its confinement, an encouraging sign that it was alive during the six months of captivity.

To the immense relief of the owner, district officials reached the place on Monday, broke the seal to let the animal out and closed it back.

“I am happy that my pet is alive, though it has gone scrawny,” said the owner Dr Chandragupta.
