<p>A decision to split Bangalore University (BU) into four was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet subcommittee on Thursday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Minister for Health and Welfare U T Khadar, who is also on the panel, told Deccan Herald: “A decision to split the university into one existing university and three new universities was taken at the meeting. However, this decision will need the approval of the Cabinet.” <br /><br />If this plan falls through, the BU will be divided into North, South and Central, in addition to the existing university at Jnanabharthi.<br /><br />Presently, around three lakh students are under the BU with around 650 colleges in five districts.<br /></p>
