Major Khan laid to rest

The mortal remains of Major Taher Hussain Khan were laid to rest on Friday with full military honours at a graveyard close to the Malla Reddy Medical College near his house at Suraram village in Qutubullahpur in Jedimetla near Hyderabad.

The funeral service was attended by family members, relatives and large number of locals.
Major Khan was killed while on duty during a night sortie in the Safapura area of Kashmir on Wednesday. He was posted as a pilot of the Advanced Light Helicopter (Dhruv) in the ‘202 Army Aviation Squadron’.

A contingent of more than 500 Army personnel paid homage to their comrade in arms. Amidst sounding of the Last Post by buglers of the AOC Centre, a three guns salute was given to the departed hero.

The brave young officer was recently married in May 2014 and hailed from a family of servicemen. His father Sarwar Hussain Khan retired from the Air Force and his elder brother is serving in the Army, while his younger brother is with the Air Force.
