Delhi chief minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal will have to take Z-plus security cover as per the laid down procedure and if he wants to avoid it, he will have to give it in writing.
Home Ministry sources said Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory gets Z-plus security cover. “If he does not want to have the security cover, he will have to give it in writing. The sensible thing is to ask for scaling down the security cover. It is not advisable for him to completely avoid security cover,” a senior Home Ministry official said.
Sources said Delhi Police will soon hold a meeting with AAP leaders to convince Kejriwal for taking the mandated security cover. AAP leader Ashutosh said on Wednesday that Kejriwal will not take Z-plus security. “If he has to accept Z-plus security then the police should give solid reasons” he had said.
