Construction worker killed as brick falls on him

A 26-year-old construction labourer was killed in a freak mishap after a hollow brick fell on his head at an under-construction building, on the premises of St Charles School in Kammanahalli under Banaswadi police limits on Friday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sarvana, a native of Ballari. He was working as a labourer in the five-storey under-construction building for the past three months. On Friday, at around 1.30 pm, he was on the ground floor while another labourer was unloading hollow bricks from a sack on the fifth floor.

A brick slipped and fell on Sarvana's head, the police said. He bled profusely and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He breathed lost at the hospital, the police added. A case of negligence has been booked against Sunil and Kumar, engineers at the building, the police said.
