Some of India’s finest artistes came together and presented a few spectacular pieces at the fundraising concert ‘Sur N Symphony’, that was held at ‘Counter Culture’, Whitefield, recently.

The concert was organised by Sankara Eye Hospital, with a hope towards creating a visually wealthy India. The electrifying ensemble comprised evergreen musicians such as Shankar Mahadevan, V Selva Ganesh, Vidwan Vikku Vinayakram, Niladri Kumar and Taufiq Qureshi who mesmerised Bengalureans with some of their best performances. It was a power-packed night with some great vocal as well as instrumental performances.

Shankar Mahadevan held the spectators spellbound with some of his popular numbers. A solo percussion piece was performed by the Grammy award-winning artiste Vidwan Vikku Vinayakram. A special segment featured an enthralling Carnatic act by V Selva Ganesh on ‘khanjira’ while Taufiq Qureshi played a line-up of self-composed tracks in tune with the tranquil mood. There was also a unique segment which featured the six musicians who came together and mesmerised the audience with their astounding tunes that were in tandem with each other. This six-piece sonic was the icing on the cake.

The event appealed to a vast variety of audiences as the artistes went miles ahead to create music that was extraordinary in nature.

Shivkumar, a member of the audience, said, “The music ensemble was brilliant and unique. With all the maestros coming together, the concert, on the whole, was an unforgettable experience.”

The mega-musical event was held to raise money for blind children.

Dr Ramani, the founder and managing trustee of Sankara Eye Care Institutions, said, “The amount collected from the show will give people the gift of sight. We are extremely happy that the artistes took time off from their busy schedule to perform at the concert. This event will help give a new lease of life to many who have never experienced the warmth of light.”
