The government is prepared to incorporate "constructive and meaningful" suggestions in the land bill which will be taken up in the Lok Sabha next week, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said here on Wednesday.

He said the government was holding discussions with individual party leaders on the contentious bill which is being opposed by several political parties.

"The prime minister has assured the Lok Sabha that government will take constructive and meaningful suggestions and incorporate them while moving the bill," Naidu told reporters here.
He hoped the bill will be passed in the Rajya Sabha along with other bills which will replace ordinances brought by the government in the winter session of parliament.

Naidu expressed happiness over the passage of the insurance amendment bill, the coal allocation bill and the citizenship amendment bill in the Lok Sabha. The bills will replace ordinances.

He said "overwhelming" numbers had supported the bills in the Lok Sabha and the same parties will now debate these bills in the Rajya Sabha.

"I hope they would do the same in Rajya Sabha also," he said. The government does not enjoy a majority in the Rajya Sabha.
