Woman killed as tipper lorry rams lake wall

A 45-year-old woman was killed and two others were injured when a wall inside Vengaiah lake near KR Puram collapsed on them after a tipper lorry rammed it on Wednesday.

Police identified the deceased as Stanley Mary and the injured as Siddamma and Lourde Mary. All of them are from TC Palya and were part of the housekeeping staff on the premises of the lake. They were hired by local people to maintain the lake.

Trying to take reverse, the tipper lorry rammed the wall which collapsed on the three women who were sitting beside it. Their screams for help drew passersby to the spot. The women were trapped in the debris and were pulled out and taken to a hospital where doctors declared Mary brought dead. The two other women are said to be out of danger. The driver fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle.
