Bangalore University syndicate members have taken a decision to approach the Department of Higher Education to impress upon it the importance of retaining affiliated colleges under its umbrella.
This comes in the wake of proposal for bifurcation of the university. At a Bangalore University syndicate meeting here on Wednesday, it was decided to meet officials of the Higher Education Department soon.
The members opined that losing colleges to bifurcation of the university would deprive the university of its revenue. A large portion of the revenue comes from the affiliation fee charged on the colleges. The top officials in the university were also in agreement with the syndicate members, raising concerns that losing colleges at a point when several affiliated colleges are closing down, would hit the finances
badly.
