While the filmmakers of 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy' is tight-lipped about the main antagonist in the film, now it has emerged that actor Aamir Khan was their original choice to play the villain.

According to reports, Aamir Khan was offered two films from the YRF banner, 'Dhoom 3' and   'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy', to essay the role of main villain in both films. And the actor, who is famously called as perfectionist, chose swanky thriller-heist (Dhoom 3) over dark crime thriller  'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy'.

Director  'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Dibakar conforming the reports said "YRF's gain was YRF's loss."

"I was in talks with the studio and we thought the best guy to play the baddie was Aamir. We narrated the script to him. I didn't know that 'Dhoom 3' was on the slate next with Aamir as the villain. He passed on my script. Two years later, we met after the Byomkesh teaser released and he said he loved it,"  Dibakar was quoted in Mid-Day.

'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Dibakar' set in war torn Calcutta in the 1940's, the film revolves around the adventures of fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi, played by Sushant Singh Rajput.

Sushant Singh Rajput had also played a cameo in Aamir's blockbuster movie, 'PK'.
