Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had been keeping unwell for the past few days, was admitted to a super-speciality hospital in Gurgaon late on Friday night with symptoms of swine flu.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Mulayam’s son Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday tweeted that his father was responding well to treatment. “Netaji (Mulayam) is recovering...grateful to those wishing him well (sic),” he wrote on Twitter.

SP sources here did not confirm if Mulayam had swine flu, but said the party chief had displayed its symptoms. Sources said Mulayam had urinary tract infection as well. They also said Mulayam was in the intensive care unit.

SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said Mulayam had been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon.

“He has undergone some tests, and is recovering,” Chaudhary told reporters here on Saturday.

The SP chief had not been keeping well for the past few days. He had been admitted to the super-speciality Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences here on Wednesday night after complaining of breathlessness.

He also had fever and cold. He was later discharged, and was advised complete rest, said party sources.
