'India favourites'

Last Updated 07 March 2015, 20:16 IST

With their batsmen and bowlers firing in unison, India are looking good to defend their World Cup titles, cricket legends Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble said on Saturday.

“According to me, India are firm favourites,” said Dravid, who was here to inaugurate the refurbished course at the Chikkamagalore Golf Club.

“The bowlers are doing a great job and the team looks strong enough to go the distance.”
Kumble also backed India to defend the title and said India had a wonderful opportunity to emerge champions for the third time.

“They are sitting well with four wins. India is expected to play either Bangladesh or England in the quarterfinals. The team has a great chance to seal their berth in the semifinals and go for the title. For India’s advantage, their batsmen and bowlers are in great form.”

India have won all their four matches at the World Cup so far and are into the quarterfinals, with two group matches remaining.
