Last Updated 11 March 2015, 02:11 IST

A 21-year-old youth jumped to his death in front of a running train at Dwarka Sector 10 Metro station on Tuesday.

Police said he was unemployed for last one month and that could be a possible reason behind his extreme step. No suicide note was found from Nitin Tomar, who was a resident of Najafgarh in west Delhi.

“He had quit his education three years ago and had been working with various companies before going unemployed a month ago,” a senior police officer told Deccan Herald.

Tomar jumped to his death from platform number one at around 6 pm. Eyewitnesses told police he was talking to someone on phone before he took the fatal leap. Only the mangled remains of the youth could be recovered from the tracks.

Services on the Metro line were affected following the incident for about half an hour.
His father told police that he saw no apparent reason behind the suicide. A probe is on.
