Following the dereliction of duty, a second division assistant of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has been kept under suspension with pending enquiry.

According to the notice, MUDA Commissioner S Palaiah has kept C B Chandrakanth second division assistant of Zone 6 office under suspension, for allegedly colluding with an outsider to grant site in a residential layout, reserved to be transferred for Karnataka Housing Board (KHB).

The City Improvement Trust Board (CITB) that became MUDA later, had developed a residential  layout at Gayathripuram named as ‘East of Van Ingen Bungalow Layout’.

However, with the sole intention of transferring the sites to KHB, MUDA had not allotted the sites in the layout. To facilitate the process, the Authority had left all the 58 pages of the said record vacant without making any entries in the respective ledger.

However, according to the notice, Chandrakanth had dubiously included the name of one Kalyankumari, wife of G B Lingaiah in the page number 203 of the ledger.

The chalan number was recorded as 75/151/22-12-1997. To validate the record, Chandrakanth had got the same passed by the previous special tahsildar of MUDA P M Nandini. In the later years, Kalyankumari sold the site to B R Thyagaraju on February 7, 2014, who subsequently sold the same to Ranaram Bhorana on March 27, the same year.

Bhorana applied for sale deed and other documents from the Authority on May 28.
Though Chandrakanth was aware of the dubious deed, he kept mum, while the matter related to site cropped up off and on.

However, the illegality came to light after the secretary suspected foul play during the fag end of 2014. On February 5, he resolved to cancel the transfer certificate already issued to Bhorana.

Though Chandrakanth was served a show cause notice seeking his explanation, Chandrakanth claimed innocence stating that he was not directly at fault. The commissioner who found his reply unsatisfactory issued an order suspending him on March 4, owing to dereliction of duty.
