Errors in results; students demand revaluation free of cost

Scores of students, upset over the errors that have creeped in the results announced by the University of Mysore in its website, and the new examination system, staged a mega protest, in Hassan, on Friday.

Students of various colleges under the banner of Students Federation of India (SFI) and ABVP staged separate protests condemning the negligence by the University.

Students of both the groups took out a protest march and culminated in front of the deputy commissioner’s office and raised slogans against the varsity.

University of Mysore has announced the results of the exams held for the year 2014-15 in November and December in its website.

The students alleged that there were a lot of errors, including mistakes in the results.

For instance, in the place of 50 marks, it has been mentioned 05 in many cases, they said, adding that they were hopeful of good results and were shocked to see the results, which showed they have failed in the exams.

The students demanded stern action against the employees and also sought re-valuation, free of cost.

They also opposed the new examination system that has been implemented from the current year.

According to the new system, the students who have failed in the 1st, 3rd and 5th semesters,  are not allowed to appear for the 2nd, 4th and 6th semesters.

Similarly, unless the students clear the 2nd, 4th and 6th semesters, they are not allowed to appearing for re-examination of 1st, 3rd and 5th semester exams.

Earlier, students had the opportunity to appear for the exams even though they had not cleared the earlier semesters.

The students demanded the old system be continued.
