JOIN USThe body of Prabha Arun Kumar, 41, a City-based software engineer who was stabbed to death by unknown assailants in Sydney last week, reached Kempegowda International Airport at 10 pm on Saturday.
The family members completed the clearance formalities at the cargo terminal and took possession of the body. The coffin containing the body was taken to her residence in Chandra Layout at 11 pm. The family members requested the media to respect their privacy.
The family was highly inconsolable on receiving Prabha’s mortal remains.
A host of her relatives were present at the airport and the family had made all arrangements to take the body to her residence.
The body would be taken to Mangaluru for cremation at 9 am on Sunday. Prabha, a Mindtree employee, went to Sydney in 2012 on a project for three years. She was expected to return in the first week of April, when her Australian assignment was scheduled to conclude. She was married to Arun Kumar, who runs an organisation in Bengaluru, in 2000. Meghana, the nine-year-old daughter of the couple, is studying in Bengaluru. Mindtree had made all arrangements to transport the body till Bengaluru. The motive and identity of Prabha’s assailant still remains a mystery.
