A 19-year-old woman has been arrested for kidnapping a seven-year-old girl in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. The girl was rescued from Noida on Tuesday.

She was part of a human trafficking gang and was told to take the girl to Bihar, police said on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Shabnam who hails from Nagpur in Maharashtra.
On Sunday, Kavita Singh had approached police stating that her daughter went missing from the terrace of their house.

“Locals told Kavita that her daughter was last seen with an unknown woman. She tried to locate her in the nearby places, but did not succeeded,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Prem Nath.

A case was filed with Malviya Nagar police station and the station staff were sensitised about the incident. A wireless message was also flashed and help was sought from all police stations.

Police were tipped off that Shabnam had kidnapped the girl. “The information was developed, which revealed that Shabnam was hiding with the with kidnapped girl at Yakubpur village in Noida sector 83,” Nath added.

A police team immediately raided the premises at Noida and arrested Shabnam. The kidnapped girl was also recovered. During interrogation, Shabnam told police that she kidnapped the girl on the instructions of Rudal Sahu who hails from Bihar’s East Champaran district.

“Rudal dropped Shabnam in Noida and left for Bihar, asking her to come to Bihar along with the kidnapped girl after two days,” Nath said.

Raids are being conducted to nab Rudal and other members of the gang in Bihar.
The possibility of their involvement in similar cases of kidnapping in the capital is also being analysed by police.
