Last Updated 20 March 2015, 18:19 IST

Urging the government to hand over IAS officer D K Ravi’s death case to CBI, the members of BJP staged a protest and blocked MG road in Chikkamagaluru on Friday.

The protestors, blocked the road for a couple of minutes and shouted slogans against the state government. They also collected signatures from people at Azad circle  to urge the Chief Minister to handover the case to CBI.

The protestors mentioned in the memorandum submitted to the DC that the IAS officer got threat calls, after he conducted raids on income tax defaulters. Even though D K Ravi had discussed the issue with Bengaluru City Police Commissioner M N Reddy, no action was initiated against the people who posed threat to him. If the commissioner had taken precautionary measures, Ravi’s death would not have happened, the BJP members claimed.

Many IAS and IPS officers working in various departments in the state government, have not been able to work efficiently, due to lack of protection.

Come IAS officials have written to the Prime Minister, seeking CBI probe on the suspicious death of D K Ravi. They have lost the faith on the state government. State government should be given instruction to allow IAS officers to serve for a minimum of two years in a post, they urged.

BJP district unit President H C Kalmarudapa meanwhile accused the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of backtracking from handing over the case to CBI and added that the CM is following double standards.

Also, Bengaluru City Commissioner of Police M N Reddy should be suspended for his negligence and the investigation should be intensified. The state has lost honest IAS officer, he lamented Party district unit Vice President Kote Ranganna, General Secretary Prem Kumar, State Vice President Rekha Huliyappa Gowda, City unit President Varasiddhi Venugopal, CMC President Pushparaj, members Kavitha Shekhar, Anitha and others were present.
