Returning to one’s Alma Mater is like a spiritual experience. ‘Collatio 2015’, an alumni meet, was organised recently by the BBM Department of PES University. As a warm welcome was given to the alumni, a sense of nostalgia could be felt in the air.

The past students and the teachers, in the presence of the present students, relished their memories. Professor Venugopal Naidu, the HOD, under whose guidance the department had blossomed, acknowledged and praised the contribution of the alumni in their respective fields of work.

He highlighted as to how the alumni had been instrumental in helping the present students with their internship programmes and guiding them to choose the right career.

One of the main objectives of the meet was to facilitate an interaction between those who have succeeded in grabbing the opportunities and those who are waiting for it. This threw open an engaging conversation between the present students and the alumni on various aspects.

The alumni members spoke about the importance of management fests and encouraged the students to participate in many more to gain confidence to join the rigorous corporate world. The alumni even shared their fond memories of organising and participating in fests and how they made their college shine.

When asked about the present market situation and how they handle work, the alumni members suggested the students to pursue what they were good at, as at the end of the day job satisfaction matters the most.

They also shared insights about the corporate world, the uncertainties they faced and the hectic stretchable nine-to-five grind that they needed to cope with.

At the end of a belligerent yet positive session, the alumni and the students got together to show their skills. They sang and danced and made the air more festive, followed by a sumptuous engagement to prove an old adage “True gastronomy is making the most of what is available, however modest”.

‘Collatio 2015’ turned out to be precursor of what is in store in the days to come, a platform to bring the finished product and work-in-progress together.
