Firm on supplying free power: CM

He was speaking after laying foundation stone to the 500 MW-capacity third production unit at BTPS (Bellary Thermal Power Station) in Kuditini near Bellary on Tuesday. He said, there is need for 9,500 MW power in the State. He assured of ensuring more than 5,000 MW power is produced in different power stations of the State in the next four years.

The CM said, 1500 MW power will be  produced from Bellary alone in the span of two and half years. The State government has allocated Rs 36,000 crore for power production. The production unit here will not have water crisis as it is supplied from Maralihall reservoir near Kampli. He announced honorarium to the KPCL officials and employees for their commitment and dedication in building the third unit. He said he will meet the Prime Minister in Delhi soon to discuss problems of the State.

Energy Minister Eshwarappa said the State government has purchased power worth Rs 3,000 crore till date to address power crisis. 

Udasi to give up his post?

The CM strongly hinted that Minister C M Udasi might be giving up his post of the Raichur district in-charge. After the inauguration of the power project Yeddyurappa said, “Udasi is already overburdened with responsibilities at the PWD. He has requested me to relieve him of his additional duties.” He said no discussion was going on about the Cabinet reshuffle.
