CM to launch water projects in Hassan on April 1

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would inaugurate and launch a few water projects during his visit to the district on April 1, said Congress district unit president B Shivaramu.

Addressing a press meet, in Hassan, on Wednesday, Shivaramu said, as the second phase of Kachenahalli Lift Irrigation Project has been completed, the Chief Minister will inaugurate it and also lay foundation stone to the Ganganalu irrigation project at Arkalgud taluk, he said.

District in-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, Water Resources Minister M B Patil and others would accompany the CM, he said.

Priority

The Congress government is giving priority to irrigation projects in the district and Rs 56 crore has been proposed for the water projects at Shravanabelagola, Hirisave.

Under the project, 22 lakes would be filled, while 46 villages situated on the four km stretch of Hemavathy Leftbund (yedadande) would be benefited, he added.

11 projects

There are 11 water projects in the pipeline for Kamasamudra, Huchakoppalu, Kachenahalli, Malluru, Kyathanahalli, Bolenahalli, Halebeedu, Madihalli, Nuggehalli, and hundreds of farmers would be benefited, he said.

Shivaramu said that the party workers would urge the CM to set up the IIT in Hassan district as lands have already been identified for it.
