<p>It will be drastic shift from reel-life to real-life for Bollywood action hero Salman Khan, an accused in a 13-year-old hit-and-run case.<br /> <br /></p>.<p>The actor will step into the box to give his version of sequence of events and the evidence presented by the prosecuting team to the Mumbai sessions court.<br /><br />On Friday, Salman (49), will personally appear before Additional Sessions judge D W Deshpande for recording his statement under Section 313 of the CrPC. <br /><br />Among those who would be present during the recording of statement are special public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat and the legal team of the accused led by defence lawyer Shrikant Shivade.<br /><br />Submission of evidence<br /><br />The prosecution has closed submission of evidence against the actor and this is the crucial stage of the trial before final arguments. <br /><br />The re-trial is being conducted on a day-to-day basis. On September 28, 2002, at Bandra’s Hill Road, Salman, who was under the influence of alcohol, dashed his <br />Toyota Land Cruiser into the American Express bakery and immediately fled the spot. <br /><br />One pavement dweller was killed and four others were injured. <br /><br />A case was filed by the Bandra police and the actor was later arrested.<br />Initially, the case was tried before the metropolitan magistrate court in Bandra.<br /><br />However, later the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was added and it was shifted to the Mumbai sessions court. <br /><br />10 years term<br /><br />The actor faces a maximum jail term of 10 years, if convicted, under the graver charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. <br /><br />The prosecution has claimed that Salman was under the influence of alcohol and was driving rashly. <br /><br />Besides, he did not have a driving licence and was even warned by a police bodyguard, the late Ravindra Patil, attached to him. <br /><br />Salman’s lawyers have denied that he was behind the wheel.</p>
