On a bright Sunday afternoon, amidst beautiful trees in Cubbon Park, members of Mara gathered together for a reflection of sorts. They delved into various issues concerning the group and what was best way to improve.

Mara, established in 2008 in Nelamangala, has been active in theatre, music, art, literature to mention a few. The reflection helped the members of the team to zero in on the October Jam which was held recently for over a month. Mara comprises not only professionals from various artistic fields but budding talented students and other individual up-and-coming artists. These people get a chance to interact with people from across the country and share their thoughts and views about similar interests.
Pallavi from Mara says, “I am happy that the group has moved ahead with its activities. It has given a platform for many budding talented youth to come up with their own ideas and thoughts.” She also added , “we also get to voice our opinions and display our works in a very different manner. Criticism is welcome because it helps us improve.”

Photography and painting exhibitions, discussions on burning issues of local, national and international importance occupy the group attention. Musical performances, book reading, plays, skits are just few of the activities which are organised by Mara in collaboration with other theatre groups. Sunday Jams are held in prominent places in the City such as Cubbon Park, Lalbagh and Nanda Park.

Rashmi, another member says, “Sometimes our activities are theme-based. We want more people to come up with different things and take these activities forward.”
