Dharna held against irregular power supply

Gram Panchayat member Ismail who spoke on the occasion said that though a Bescom sub-station was located in the Lakshmipur the neighbouring villages were deprived of proper power supply.

It has lead a host of problem, expressed Ismail who said that crops where withering away in fields as pump sets failed to function in the absence of power. There is drinking water crisis and students are having a harrowing time as they are not able to study due to power disruption in the night, he added.

Though, memorandums have been given many a times in the past to provide regular power supply, no concrete steps have been taken by the officials concerned, alleged Ismail who blamed the Bescom for the loss of horticulture crop grown by the farmers by taking loan.

He threatened to intensify the protest if a separate transmission line was not drawn to sub-station to provide power to Lakshimpur and surrounding villages. Leaders Jagadheesh Kumar, Nagendra, Sayyed, Babu, Subramanyam, Venkatesh, Bekari Venkatesh and others took part in the protest. Later the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Bescom officials at the sub-station.
