Last Updated 31 March 2015, 17:34 IST

To reduce the waiting time for buying train tickets in queues during peak hours, the South Western Railway (SWR) authorities, in Mysuru, have launched an unique exercise. The concept ‘Operation Five Minutes’ was launched on Monday.

According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K Anil Kumar, it is a trial measure introduced as per the recent Railway Budget. The second counter at the station has been brought under the change, for unreserved tickets offered between 6 am and 6.45 am and 3.30 pm and 5 pm.

‘Single Adult’
Only ‘Single Adult’ ticket to Bengaluru city station will be issued at this counter upon tendering the exact fare. Child tickets and other concessional tickets will not be issued at this counter.

The other counters at the station will be issuing tickets for all directions.

Feedback
Depending on the feedback, this system will be introduced in other important stations like Shivamogga, Davangere, Hassan, Arsikere and others in future.
Additional ‘destination specific’ booking counters will be planned for clearing the peak hour rush, according to Divisional Railway Manager Rajkumar Lal.
