Power generation at the 500 MW unit of the Ballari Thermal Power Station (BTPS) came to a grinding halt following a major fire accident on Monday.
The Ballari Thermal Power Station Executive Director Rathnamma said that the fire destroyed the transformer in the first unit of the power station affecting power generation.
She further said that it may need at least a minimum of ten days to repair the unit completely. The extent of damage is yet to be ascertained, Director Rathnamma said.
