Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu flagged off the metro train at Reach 3B, between Peenya industrial area and Nagasandra on Friday.
The new stretch of Metro will be open for public from 4 pm today.
Speaking on the occasion CM Siddaramaiah told BMRCL officials to complete Phase 1 by December this year. He also said BMRCL had been asked to construct three underpasses on Reach 3B.
Venkaiah Naidu said by March 2016 people of Bengaluru would be able to use connected Metro services.
His speech was briefly interrupted by a few protestors, who were taken away by the police.
