<p>Addressing the villagers at the meeting Legislative Council member Y A Narayanaswamy said the government has introduced the scheme to ensure each and every village gets basic facilities and also to check migration to the urban areas. He rued that the agriculture sector has suffered setback as the village youth are migrating to the urban areas in search of jobs. <br /><br />Explaining the details of the scheme, he said the task of preparing action plan for the project has been entrusted to Swatantrya Senani Venkatappashetty Memorial Public Charitable Trust. He told the villagers to bury their differences and co-operate in preparing and implementing the action plan in the interest of the village. <br /><br />Other plans he put forth at the meeting are: the farmers should voluntarily clear encroachment upon tanks and lake beds and ensure free flow of rainwater into the lakes. Besides, ‘rajakaluve’ or feeder channels should be constructed and priority should be accorded to the rejuvenation of lakes. <br /><br />He called upon the public to support the rally to be held demanding regular drinking water supply in the district. <br /><br />ZP former president Nagarathnamma, after inaugurating the meeting, said that the <br />villagers should avail of the schemes and facilities provided by the government. She told them to pay attention to maintain hygienic conditions in the village as a step towards realising the Gandhiji’s dream of ‘Rama Rajya,’ she added. <br /><br />Gram Panchayat President Maniganahalli Venkatareddy, leaders Kotruguli Venkataramareddy, Anjinappa, Noorsab, Narayanagowda, BEO Victor, Taluk Horticulture Department Assistant Director Srinivas, Assistant Executive Engineer Ravindranath, veterinarian Dr Venkatesh, SSVS Trust Secretary Srinivasmurthy and Nagaraj were present in the meeting.<br /><br /></p>
