Police Commissioner B Dayananda, on Monday, said, a standard procedure will be introduced to intercept traffic offenders in the city.

In an interaction with media persons, organised by the Mysore District Journalists Association (MDJA) here, he said: “A standard procedure is being followed in Bengaluru city, to stop traffic offenders. A similar concept will be effected here, after studying the present scenario”.

Saying that the city boasts of civilised people and peace loving populace, the commissioner said, there is a dip in crime rate in the last two years, while the law and order is under control. It could be attributed to various programmes launched by the department.

Answering to media queries, the commissioner said ‘M TRAC (Mysuru Traffic Improvement Project) is under implementation with Rs 6 crore against the total Rs 40 crore, expected to be released by the government in the first phase. The commissioner denied the possibilities of violation of rules in building the new commissioner’s office complex, at the ground within the precincts of his office complex.

The commissioner clarified that the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation Limited would not have gone ahead with the construction works, in case of any dispute surrounding the land. On the crime front, he said, prevention of crime is a permanent exercise, by enforcing law as and when the situation demands.

25 pc vacancy

The commissioner said, there are 25 per cent vacancies in the city police wing and will be filled depending on the requirement.

The police personnel deputed on OOD (on official duty) from his work station to another station, will have to discharge duties irrespective of crime and law and order, the commissioner replied to another query.

Dasara, an opportunity to work

For IPS officer B Dayananda, who recently took charge as the Police Commissioner, Dasara — the annual event that attracts people in hordes to Mysuru — is an event to work with pride and to showcase policing skills.
